Refresh - The Making Of on ESPN.com

Picture
Words by John Symms

Two weeks ago, ESPN Freeskiing and Level 1 Productions put you on some "The Making Of Refresh" type ish. "Ish" is a word that twenty-somethings like your friends use in the place of "[expletive deleted]" because radio edits of rap songs often reverse swears to make them unrecognizable as swears and the sound that results from the reversal of "[expletive deleted]" sounds a lot like the word "ish."

On Part One of our "Making Of" series, we joined Ahmet Dadali, Mike Hornbeck, and Henrik Harlaut as they surveyed the frozen environs of Michigan for exciting urban skiing. Today, we travel to Mammoth Mountain, California for a sneak peek of Mike Hornbeck, Ahmet Dadali, Tom Wallisch, Duncan Adams and many other young park aggressors getting ill on massive spring jumps. Enjoy.

Check John Symms' blog for the full writeup, the video action, and other exciting summertime ski coverage.

Episode Numero Uno: Michigan!

Level 1 keeps the top-notch summer content train rolling with the first installment of our six-episode behind-the-scenes series, appearing exclusively on ESPN.com. Get an inside look into what went down over the past winter as the Level 1 crew cruised the globe in search of fresh content. The series will highlight stops in Michigan, Utah, Alaska, Mammoth, France, and Colorado and give you a taste of the fun, excitement, frustration, hard work, and stoke that comes from making ski flicks.

The first installment follows Mike Hornbeck, Ahmet Dadali, and Henrik Harlaut to Hornbeck's home state of Michigan to get after some early season handrails. Broken cameras, broken rails, last minute flights, and stock bangers ensue.

Check John Symms' blog for the full writeup, the video action, and other exciting summertime ski coverage.

A big thanks to Mr. Symms for making this series happen. Pat him on the back next time you see him.
